The Shared Community Solidarity Canteen

The aim of this community canteen is to promote access to healthy food and foster social inclusion through shared cooking experiences, knowledge exchange among participants, and the association’s commitment to making healthy food accessible to everyone. The project has entered its pilot year and is a recipient of the Citizen Ecological Budget (BEC) awarded by the Puy-de-Dôme Department.

Who is it for?

LieU’topie created its shared solidarity canteen primarily for students and people facing financial hardship. However, it is open to everyone, based on the belief that access to food is a fundamental right and should remain financially accessible. That’s why meals are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis.

When can you join us for a meal?

The shared solidarity canteen is open on Thursdays.

  • Join us at 10:00 a.m. to help cook.
  • Come at 12:30 p.m. to enjoy the meal.

After 2:00 p.m., any remaining food is made available in the community fridge.

⚠️ From November 2025 onward, the Tuesday canteen service will no longer run regularly due to a lack of volunteers. It may still take place occasionally if volunteers are willing to organize it. If you’re interested, feel free to contact us by email, Instagram, or directly at the venue—whatever works best for you!

How does it work?

The recipes, which are mainly vegan, are prepared using surplus food collected either the day before or on the same day. Volunteers gather from 9:30 a.m. to cook for the lunchtime service, which runs from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Unsold food is collected from various partners, including BioAuvergne, local producers, and organic food stores, and then transformed into nutritious meals with the help of volunteers. A recipe book is available on site so participants can recreate the dishes at home.

The project is coordinated by an employee of the association, who also provides guidance on food safety and hygiene and ensures everything runs smoothly.

How do I sign up?

You can reserve a place for yourself and your guests through the registration form or simply stop by in person.
